Turkish machinery companies have begun investing in R&D

Founded in 1992, Agteks is a leading manufacturer of high-tech and patented textile machinery. Its top R&D offerings include the Directwist cone to cone multifunctional twisting machine, the Intelliwinder intelligent unravelling machine and the Servo bobbin feeder. It has also designed the world's fastest linear motor and a yarn quality sensor. Marketing manager Kerem Ariturk shares details about the integration of Industry 4.0 and plans to increase the company’s share in the domestic market.

What textile machines do you manufacture?

We produce twisting and feeding machines as well as quality control instruments. In twisting, we have machines for basic yarns like cotton, polyester, and advanced technologies for technical textile yarns. Our twisting machine 2C6 is our best technology model as it has the capability to twist all kinds of yarns like cotton or polyester together at the same time. This is possible because we have provided independent heads, besides motors.

What are your thoughts on Industry 4.0?

We have implemented Industry 4.0 in our technologies, and so, several machines can together be controlled through remote access or even from a mobile.

How does Turkey fare in textile technology compared to other countries?

In terms of quality, European textile technologies are better since they have been around for many years and have a strong R&D component. It is only now that Turkish textile machinery companies have started investing in R&D.

Which countries do you export to?

Agteks exports to over 70 countries; 95 per cent of our production is for exports. Our biggest export market is the US, followed by Germany.

What are your company's plans for 2018?

We have just started producing quality instruments, and will start marketing them within the next two months. In 2018, we also plan to increase our market share in the Turkish textiles market.
